The visit of the Deputy Minister of Defense to the Ghadir Neyriz Steel Complex booth at the Metafo 2024 exhibition conveyed a message of significant transformation in the ranking of Iran's steel production and notable advancements in Iran's steel industry.
Neyriz, February 4, 2023 - On the second day of the International Iran Metafo 2024 exhibition, Sardar Farahi, Deputy Minister of Defense and Support for Armed Forces, emphasized the increasing importance of this complex in Iran's steel industry by visiting the Neyriz Ghadir Steel Complex booth. This visit showcased the pivotal role of the complex in elevating Iran's position in the global steel production arena.
In line with this, Dr. Mostafapour, CEO of the Ghadir Neyriz Steel Complex, referring to the upcoming operation of the new steel manufacturing plant within the next two months, announced a considerable advancement in the ranking of steel production. He stated that this plant, with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of steel billets, will soon be operational, adding:
With the commencement of this plant, Iran will join the ranks of the top 10 steel-producing countries in the world.
This achievement, in addition to creating employment and economic prosperity, will aid the country's self-sufficiency in steel production.
Dr. Mostafapour also outlined the complex's plans for completing the steel production chain, saying:
- Next year, the construction of a centralized pelletizing plant will be on the agenda.
- Simultaneously, the extraction of iron ore and the construction of a concentrate plant will be pursued.
- With the completion of the steel production chain, the country's dependence on the import of steel raw materials will significantly decrease.
Moreover, the Ghadir Neyriz Steel Complex, committed to its social responsibilities, has undertaken significant activities in various areas such as job creation, regional development and prosperity, and environmental protection.

Ghadir Neyriz Steel Company was one of the 7 steel projects approved by the government delegation in 2007 with the aim of decentralizing steel production. The construction of a DRI plant with a capacity of 800 thousand tons and a steelworks with a capacity of one million tons began in 2007.
In 2014, an agreement was signed between the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) and Ghadir International Industries & Mines Development Company (Public Joint Stock) for investment and partnership in the construction, completion, and commissioning of the incomplete Neyriz Ghadir Steel Complex project. The agreement allocated 65% of the investment to the second party (Ghadir) and 35% to the first party (IMIDRO).
