What is The Persian Reduction technology
In recent years, the technology for producing sponge iron at Neyriz Ghadir Steel Complex has been advanced by Iranian companies entering the design field with the goal of localizing technology and acquiring technical expertise in sponge iron production. The new technology, known as PERED (Persian Reduction), has been implemented for producing this product. This technology not only offers higher efficiency and lower consumption of electricity, gas, and water compared to the conventional MIDREX technology but also results in lower maintenance costs.
In this method, known as direct reduction, more than 92% of the iron content in the ore is converted into metallic iron. This process not only reduces environmental pollution but also lowers the final cost of steel products by up to 15% compared to the blast furnace method. The Direct Reduction Unit at Neyriz Ghadir Steel Complex is designed based on this Iranian technology and has been implemented by an Iranian contractor under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and supervision by a qualified consultant) contract.

Sustainable and high-quality production, considering the components of the environmental ecosystem, is one of the main strategies of the Neyriz Ghadir steel complex. To comply with legal requirements and environmental approaches in the field of monitoring and measuring pollutants, dust, ambient air pollutants, environmental noise pollution, wastewater, and soil, Ghadir Neyriz Steel Complex has concluded a contract with an accredited laboratory of the Environmental Protection Organization within the framework of the self-declaration plan. These monitoring activities are carried out periodically at specified three-month intervals without prior notice to the unit.
Ghadir Neyriz Steel Company was one of the 7 steel projects approved by the government delegation in 2007 with the aim of decentralizing steel production. The construction of a DRI plant with a capacity of 800 thousand tons and a steelworks with a capacity of one million tons began in 2007.
In 2014, an agreement was signed between the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) and Ghadir International Industries & Mines Development Company (Public Joint Stock) for investment and partnership in the construction, completion, and commissioning of the incomplete Neyriz Ghadir Steel Complex project. The agreement allocated 65% of the investment to the second party (Ghadir) and 35% to the first party (IMIDRO).
